The cutting edge styling and state-of-the-art chassis engineering of Mercedes’ second-generation B-Class sports tourer provides Carlsson with the blank canvas to paint another masterpiece. The head turning aerodynamic styling additions and alloy wheels are supported by uprated suspension and performance kits that deliver up to 42 extra horsepower.
Carlsson’s aerodynamic styling makes performance look great. The kit for the B-Class starts with a front spoiler that gives the car a more dynamic face, while enhancing high-speed stability.
The more sculpted side sills help to smoothen airflow along the cars flanks, and lead to the new rear apron with its integrated diffuser flanked by cut-outs for two pairs of rear exhaust outlets. The large roof spoiler, which matches the contours of the roof, reduces drag and lift at speed.
Lowering springs drop the ride height by 35mm, enhancing handling and grip and giving the car a more purposeful look. Carlsson’s 1/10 design alloy wheels fill out the wheel arches, and are available as the Titanium or Diamond Editions in 18, 19 or 20-inch sizes, shod with 225/40 R18, 225/35 R19 and 235/30 R20 tyres from Dunlop or Vredestein. In the Graphite Edition, this wheel is available in 19 and 20-inch diameters only.
Those after a performance boost to match the racier exterior will benefit from Carlsson’s C-tronic CB kits, designed to increase output of the B-Class four-cylinder petrol engines.
Minimal installation time with maximum performance and reliability is the principle behind the new Carlsson C-Tronic CB Plug & Drive module, which connects to the factory ECU via an adapter plug included in the kit.
Thus equipped, the B250 sees its output rise from 211hp to 253hp, while the B200 goes from 156 to 187hp, and the entry-level B180 achieves 146hp, up from 122hp. This is a gain of 31hp for the B180 and B200, while the B250 is 42hp up over standard. Vehicles upgraded with the Carlsson CB kits continue to meet the Euro 5 and Euro 6 emissions standards.
While the most basic Carlsson cabin furnishings come in the form of carpet mats, alloy pedal set and door pins, if an owner wants to personalize the car further, Carlsson’s trim department can deliver bespoke leather upholstery and wood or carbon-fibre trim.
Visitors to his year’s Frankfurt IAA International Motor Show (open to the public from 12th to 22nd September 2013), will experience the full depth and breadth of Carlsson’s abilities through an impressive display of road and race machinery on their spacious stand in the Open-air East section (FG East, FA178).
The full spectrum of Carlsson Road cars on show will range from the smart fortwo, through the A-class, CLA, and CK63RS to the ML Royale Revox. The highlight of the stand will be Carlsson’s interpretation of the new Mercedes S-class flagship.
Carlsson’s motorsport activities will be represented by their racing truck and Reto Meisel’s SLK 340 Judd hillclimb racecar, underlining the fact that Carlsson’s passion for fast cars is forged in the heat of competition.
