Alfa hopes that its latest creation, the Mi.To, will help it recover the struggling Italian brand. Mi.To’s projected sales are expected to reach between 70,000 and 75,000 a year and if it does, the target “will be the first spark in Alfa’s recovery,” according to Alfa’s CEO, Luca De Meo.
The Mi.To is set to go on sale in July in some parts of Europe with a starting price of €16,000 ($25,243). Alfa says that the Mi.To as a rival to the BMW MINI brand with its aggressive design inspired by the 8C Competizione supercar.
So will the Mi.To come to the U.S. when the Italian brand makes its return to the stateside? While there is no official word as of yet, don’t doubt it for a second. Alfa engineered the Mi.To to comply with US safety and emission standards, so the car could be sold in North America after the Alfa returns to the U.S. next year.
