The fully-electric New Fiat 500 has retained its best small electric car title at the What Car? 2022 Electric Car Awards.
Judges praised the car for its smile-inducing performance, attractive price point and design.
The New Fiat 500 is the first fully-electric model in Fiat’s history and boasts a range of best-in-class features such as Level 2 Autonomous Driving technologies and a substantial driving range of up to 199 miles (WLTP) – the longest range of any electric city car on the market today.
New 500 also benefits from fast charging capabilities, allowing the battery to recharge to 80 per-cent range in only 35 minutes. In addition, 30 miles of range takes only five minutes.
Boasting a host of entry levels, New 500 includes three trim levels (Action, Icon and La Prima) as well as convertible options from the Icon trim upwards.
Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car? said “The Fiat 500 quells any notion that a small electric car should look or feel basic. Plus, it’s well priced and no rival is as good at tackling the cut and thrust of city traffic while putting a smile on your face. In short, it perfectly encapsulates what’s needed from a modern urban runaround”.
Greg Taylor, UK Managing Director for Fiat and Abarth, said: “If New 500 being the most accoladed Fiat of all time wasn’t enough of a statement, seeing our first-ever fully-electric car secure back-to-back titles is an incredible achievement, highlighting the impression that it continues to have across the industry since its launch in 2020.”
Only last month, New 500 also retained its title for a second consecutive year, as City Car of the Year at the annual Auto Express awards and has reached a significant landmark of being chosen by over 100,000 customers globally.
