Triple Olympic gold medallist and CUPRA ambassador, Adam Peaty OBE, is on a mission in and outside of the pool. After setting the 100m breaststroke World Record time of 56.88 seconds, he now has his mind set on ‘Project Immortal’, a drive to set a time that can never be beaten.
Ahead of the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) next month, Peaty showed his ultra-competitive drive isn’t just reserved for the pool. Adam shares an insight into what it takes to train for immortality, with everyday tasks turned into new opportunities to break his record. Taking a morning shower, making a fruit smoothie, and even visiting the local coffee shop are undertaken with a competitive edge.
Sharing insight into his mindset, Peaty said: “Not a single day goes by where I don’t push myself to reach new levels. I’m focused on an old school approach of going 1% better in everything I do. If I’m to set an immortal time in the pool, every task in life needs to be completed with this unbeatable mindset to keep me focused on the bigger picture.”
Project Immortal requires a car with a challenger spirit. Adam drives a CUPRA Born, the brand’s first fully-electric vehicle. Equally performance-driven, CUPRA Born blends class-leading handling dynamics with a sophisticated interior and a high level of standard specification.
Peaty added: “The CUPRA Born is the ideal car for my everyday needs. It feels premium, it has eye-catching looks, it’s fun to drive and I love the instantaneous acceleration. I’m a big fan of electric vehicles, and the Born’s performance-orientated design makes it feel like it shares my competitive edge. Whether you’re using it for short or long journeys, with a big range and fast charging capability, it’s an easy car to live with too.”
CUPRA Born is available with two battery pack sizes, 58kWh and 77kWh, delivering a range of up to 264 miles and 340 miles respectively (WLTP). It can be specified with either a 204PS or 230PS electric motor and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in as little as 6.6 seconds (58kWh 230PS e-Boost). Rapid DC charging capability means Born can be recharged from 5-80% in as little as 35 minutes.
