SsangYong’s flagship SUV Rexton has collected the ‘Best Value’ 4×4 accolade for an unprecedented fifth consecutive year in 4×4 Magazine’s 4×4 of the Year awards, sponsored by BFGoodrich.
Alan Kidd, editor of 4×4 Magazine, commented; “Each autumn, 4×4 of the Year comes around and one of the big questions is whether anything is going to be able to take the Best Value award away from the Rexton. And the big answer is always no.
“It actually had stronger competition than ever before this year. But it’s still up there, showing the rest of the market what value for money looks like. That’s half a decade’s worth of Best Value awards on the trot now – I never thought I’d see the day when I was saying something like that!”

Heralding major advances in style, quality, safety and technology for the brand, the Rexton, SsangYong’s flagship SUV 4×4 was updated in 2020. An authentic 4×4, the vehicle is powered by a 2.2 litre turbo Euro 6 diesel engine delivering maximum power of 202PS and maximum torque of 441Nm with 8-speed automatic transmission, and features a 3.5 tonne towing capacity, the benchmark for those who tow large caravans & trailers.
Stylish inside and out, the new car has gracious looks, and with a contemporary interior. Built using a modern and very strong body-on-frame construction, it is extremely safe and comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of electronic safety aids, and up to nine airbags. Kevin Griffin, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK, responded: “Winning one ‘best value’ award is quite an achievement, but five times in a row is testament to how fantastic Rexton is. Both Musso and Rexton continue to win awards which speaks volumes about the SsangYong product range. The SsangYong brand has always represented all-round value, which is expressed as low price, high levels of equipment, great build-quality, and a 7-year/150,000-mile warranty. We are absolutely delighted!”
This fourth generation Rexton draws on SsangYong’s heritage and deep experience of building 4×4 vehicles over 65-years, and as well as its highly competitive pricing and comprehensive list of standard equipment, features a 7-year/150,000mile warranty.
