The compact Audi Q3 SUV has just adopted the more compact and efficient 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine which joins the range alongside an attractive and comprehensive new S line Plus specification option. The new powertrain comes as an alternative to the 140 hp (103 kW) 2.0-litre TDI model, and shares its exclusively front-wheel-driven configuration. 

The engine will be available on SE and S line trim levels and will offer a peak power of 150 hp (110 kW) delivered between 5,000 and 6,000rpm, and maximum torque of 250 Nm (185 lb-ft) from 1,750 to 3,000rpm. The unit is matched to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission. 

The acceleration sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, Audi Q3 covers in 9.2 seconds (8.9 seconds for cars equipped with S tronic) on its way to a top speed of 126 mph. Combined fuel economy stands at 47.9 mpg, while the CO2 emissions match the efficiency-focused are rated at 137 g/km (145 g/km for S tronic models). 

For the Q3 quattro-equipped variants, there is available the S line Plus specification. In fact, the model line will be offered only for all quattro-equipped 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI models. The new specification boosts visual appeal via 19-inch ‘five segment spoke’ design, and the adoption of privacy glass extending from the B-pillar rearwards. It also includes a choice of seven metallic paint finishes – Ice silver, Samoa orange, Monsoon grey, Caribou brown, Platinum beige, Cobalt blue and Glacier white. 

The interior of the model sports standard S line perforated leather and Alcantara, cruise control, Audi’s parking system plus and SD card-based satellite navigation via the 6.5-inch colour display. 

Other equipment details include the Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, exclusive S line body styling, light and rain sensors, front sports seats with powered lumbar support, the Audi Music Interface, Bluetooth interface and voice control system for many infotainment functions. Both versions of the Q3 are equipped with comfort-oriented ‘dynamic suspension’ and S line sports suspension with a 20mm lower setting if preferred.
