Recent generation of software optimizations are quite simply synonym for the Mechernich (Germany) mcchip-dkr company. Besides its service point net all over Germany, the company has installed meanwhile co-operation partner workshops in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Kuwait, as also in the Russian Saint Petersburg, always equipped with newest techniques. Except for motor cars, “patients” of the company are lorries, agrarian vehicles, transporters, camping mobiles, boats or Jet-Skis®, whereas power improvement is not always the first reason for tuning, but also ECO-optimizations for clear cost savings.
The debut of eight new models in one day usually only happens at a motor show, but ŠKODA has done it with the launch of the ‘Black Edition’ cars.
A striking and ‘high-on-style’ limited edition model is now available on every one of ŠKODA’s award-winning cars – that’s everything from the Citigo supermini to the Superb executive Hatch and Estate.
Based on the already well-specified mid-level SE trim, the Black Edition range is available in either black or white exterior paint. Each gets at least £1,200 worth of desirable optional extras, with Superb buyers benefiting from more than £3,200 of additional specification. The customer benefit is up to £1,720 depending on the model.

The panel for the ‘Car of the Year’ awards have nominated the new ŠKODA Octavia as a finalist in the ‘Car of the Year 2014’ contest. Only seven of the original 30 cars made it to the shortlist. The ‘Car of the Year’ test drives for the final will be held in February; the award ceremony is to take place in early March 2014 at the International Motor Show in Geneva.
The ŠKODA Superb Estate has driven off with the prestigious 2014 Caravan Club Towcar of the Year title – along with three individual category victories.
The new Octavia repeated the multiple successes of its predecessor, with the 1.2 TSI SE 105PS hatch model named best towcar in the £16,000 – £20,000 category. The judging panel singled out the Octavia’s pulling power for special praise, commenting: “For such a little engine, the Octavia breezed around the hill route.”
The new Octavia must show up in India in Diwali 2013. Skoda will retain the same engine options, but because of a lighter body, improvements will be observed in fuel efficiency. The rear seat comfort of the new Octavia has improved considerably, credit to the stretched wheelbase which is over 10cm longer than the outgoing car, and the boot space has been increased to 590L.
The third generation Octavia is 4,659 mm long, 1814 mm wide and sports a wheelbase of 2,686 mm (compared to 4569 mm, 1769mm, 2,578mm of the current Octavia).
