Lancia Voyager S and Lancia Delta MY 14 debut at Frankfurt 2013

2014 Lancia Voyager SLancia has chosen Frankfurt to introduce the new Voyager S which both completes the model series, offering an alternative with a more modern style, and also extends the ‘S’ range – until now comprising of the Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN and the Delta S by MOMODESIGN – expressing Lancia’s ‘urban chic’ nature – a new form of modern elegance, versatile and creative, the fruit of the blending of urban – open-minded, relaxed and expressive – with chic – sophisticated, distinctive and high quality.

Into this context comes the Lancia Voyager S, which will be available to purchase from January 2014 on all European markets. On the outside, the new version is characterised by the brand new glossy black chrome plated front grille, new 17″ glossy black alloy wheels and the ‘S’ logo on the tailgate The same stylistic language is to be found on the inside too, characterised by black leather and fabric with grey stitching, the same as on the front door panels, gloss black trim on the dashboard and steering wheel inserts and the ‘S’ logo on the front seat backrests.

With the new S version, the Lancia Voyager confirms its position as the benchmark of the large MPV segment and the perfect expression of space shared between emotion and travel experience. Depending on the market, the range is made up of three trim levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum) and two engines: the new 178 HP 2.8L turbodiesel and the 283 HP 3.6L V6 Pentastar petrol engine.

All trim levels come with a wealth of standard equipment, including 17″ alloy wheels and roof rails (black on the S trim level and chrome-plated on the Platinum trim level), while the passenger compartment features front and rear seats upholstered in top quality leather (which are heated and electrically adjustable on the S and Platinum trim levels). The steering wheel with audio controls and gear lever knob are also upholstered in leather.

The interior of the Voyager was designed to reflect a cosy and comfortable living room. It is both sturdy and flexible thanks to the Stow’n Go system  which comes as standard on the entire range. The system allows the second and third rows of seats to be stowed away inside the floor, providing a record capacity of 4100 litres. On the Platinum trim level, the third row seats can also be folded down using the electric controls.

Completing the standard equipment of the Lancia Voyager, depending on the trim level and the market, are more than 40 active and passive safety features (ESC, 6 airbags, cruise control, fog lights, automatic headlights, Blind Spot and Cross Path detection and active pedestrian protection). A recent addition to the wealth of standard equipment throughout the entire range is the electronic Trailer Sway Damping system, designed to detect sudden movements of the trailer and help to correct the situation. This innovative system means that the Lancia Voyager can now tow a caravan or trailer in total safety.

The Voyager is also rich in content which ensures optimum on-board comfort and travelling pleasure, including the automatic three-zone climate control system, electric seat and pedal adjustment, and the U-ConnectTM hands-free system with iPod/MP3 that integrates the navigation function and the rear camera for parking assistance. And last but certainly not least, the sophisticated ‘Dual DVD/Blue-Ray Entertainment System’, is the exclusive extra option that includes a DVD/Blue-ray player with double 9″ screen on roof for the second and third row passengers, two wireless headsets, remote control, and dual audio/video input for connecting external players.

The door mirrors (heated), the side doors (as standard on the S and Platinum) and the tailgate are also electrically adjustable.  The audio system with nine speakers, a subwoofer and up to 506 W of total power also comes as standard on the Platinum trim level.  Even when it comes to music performance, the Lancia Voyager has everything it takes to create all the thrills you want on your every journey.

Finally, the Lancia model is available with two engines that offer engineering and performance combined to deliver comfort beyond compare, to enhance your travelling experience even further: the powerful 283 HP Pentastar V6 3.6 petrol and the brilliant 2.8 turbodiesel in the new 178 HP version. Both engines are combined as standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission with torque converter that offers closer spacing between the gears, limiting engine speed changes between the different transmission ratios and guaranteeing smoother engagements suited to all driving situations.

Specifically, the new 2.8 turbodiesel common-rail 178 HP engine (131 kW) is distinguished by a particularly favourable fuel supply system due to the maximum torque of 360 Nm available over a very extensive operating range (from 1400 to 3400 rpm), offering greater flexibility and responsiveness in any driving conditions. The four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshaft with belt control is equipped with a high pressure 1800 bar common rail injection system with piezoelectric injectors and a variable geometry turbocharger.

Other features of the new Lancia Voyager’s 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel engine include the new intake manifold made of composite material with electronic turbulence control, an EGR exhaust gas recirculation system, reduced friction O-rings, oil and exhaust gas temperature sensors, diesel particulate filter (DPF) and further adjustments to reduce noise, vibrations and rigidity (NVH) and to guarantee improved driving comfort. The Lancia Voyager 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel reaches 193 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. Its fuel consumption on the type-approved combined cycle is 7.9 l/100 km while CO2 emissions are 207 g/km.

On display in Frankfurt will be a Lancia Voyager S – with ‘Billet Silver’ livery and black leather/fabric upholstery with S logo on the front seat backrests – and a Lancia Voyager Platinum in the distinctive ‘Maximum Steel’ colour option, with an elegant black leather and Alcantara interior. Both vehicles are equipped with the new 2.8 turbodiesel common-rail 178 HP (131 kW) engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Lancia Delta MY 14

The Lancia Delta Model Year 2014 will make its debut in Frankfurt, available to purchase on the major European markets from January 2014.  A refinement of the Lancia range’s compact flagship, the updated version offers innovative aesthetic features designed to satisfy a male metropolitan customer looking for style and personality.

On the outside, the Delta MY 14 features side skirts and body coloured front and rear bumpers, as well as twin chrome exhaust pipes. The inside has been modernised, with trim on the central console in glossy black, like the climate control display, and matt back for the steering wheel insert, instrument panel, buttons and central console trims.

Of course, the strengths of the model remain unchanged, a model which has offered a new car concept right from its launch in 2008, bringing the attributes of a flagship vehicle to segment C. Into its 4.5 metres, the Lancia Delta MY14 packs all the elegance, luxury and interior space of a higher category: the rear seats recline into chaise-longues, the upholstery reveals quality textures and passengers are cocooned by an almost magical comfort and silence on every journey. The Lancia Delta thus fulfils the modern requirements of mobility and prestige thanks to the concept of “downsizing” – ensuring performance and luxury of a superior level at reduced cost, size and fuel consumption levels.

The passenger compartment offers a genuine lounge area – the model is at the top of its segment for rear passenger comfort – thanks in part to a sliding rear seat with reclining backrest (it can be tilted to 25°) that allows the already spacious boot (380 litres, 465 with the sliding rear seats, 724 litres with the rear seats folded) to be extended. Alternatively, the seat can be pushed back and tilted for total relaxation: the Lancia Delta is the only hatchback saloon to offer the possibility of adjusting the rear seat backrest and sliding the seat.

Depending on the country of sale, the new Lancia Delta MY 2014 range is available in 4 trim levels (Steel, Silver, Gold and the Special Series ‘S by MOMODESIGN’), with 3 engine options (1.6 MultiJet 105 HP, 1.6 MultiJet 120 HP and 1.4 Turbo-Jet LPG 120 HP), and a 6-speed manual gearbox, 19 body colour choices – including 9 two-tone options – and 7 different 16″, 17″ and 18″ alloy wheels.

From the extensive content of the Delta MY 14 model, some highlights are the “Absolute Handling System” – an evolution of ESP – which guarantees perfect control of the car and optimises its stability in all driving conditions as well as the “Magic Parking” assist system, which helps the driver to locate a parking spot suitable for the car and then prepares the parking manoeuvre by turning the steering wheel automatically.

The special series ‘S by MOMODESIGN’ certainly deserves a mention, the result of renewed collaboration between Lancia and MOMODESIGN, two brands which have contributed to the development of Italian design. The new version is a concrete example of how an “automotive object” can be reinterpreted in an aesthetic key by the MOMODESIGN Style Centre, highlighting the expressive features that have always distinguished Lancia – elegance and temperament – and blending them with the feisty and distinctive character of the Milan brand, the expression of Italian style and design.

Those same features are what distinguish the Delta Turbo LPG, an engine which, according to the ‘Bi-fuel. Be Ecochic’ principle, ensures an innovative concept in the world of eco-friendly cars: exclusive, but accessible; spacious, but compact; full of life, but economical. The Lancia Delta LPG Ecochic Turbo is equipped with the 120 HP 1.4 Turbo bi-fuel engine that boasts category topping performance and running costs. With maximum power of 120 HP (88 kW) at 5000 rpm and maximum torque of 206 Nm (21 kgm) at 1750 rpm, the Ecochic version reaches a top speed of 195 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.
