Jeep Grand Cherokee MY 2014

2014 Jeep Grand CherokeeThe New 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, that has been improved and renewed in terms of performance, design and comfort, is making its début at the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show. Already the most awarded Large SUV ever, Grand Cherokee features a new eight-speed automatic transmission, available on the entire engine line-up. This new transmission reduces consumption and emissions while significantly improving acceleration and gear shifting function.

New exterior and interior design features characterize each single trim level in a unique way and include new bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and new interior/exterior colour combinations. The use of premium materials, such as Natura Plus leather and high-quality wood as well as the introduction of a new three-spoke steering wheel deliver an exclusive character to the interior. New contents are also offered in terms of infotainment, thanks to new UConnect with 8.4″ touchscreen and the all-new for the brand 7″ TFT customer configurable display cluster.

Legendary Jeep capability comes courtesy of two four-wheel drive systems, Jeep’s Quadra-Lift air suspension system and Selec-Terrain traction management system. The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee also offers the most advanced active and passive safety features, including new Selec-Speed Control.

The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be introduced in Italy and in the European market in the third quarter 2013 and it will be available in the Laredo, Limited, Overland and Summit trim levels.

New eight-speed automatic transmission

Chrysler Group’s new eight-speed automatic transmission débuts on the 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine as well as on the V-6 and V-8 petrol engine offerings. New transmission ensures reduced consumption and emissions, while delivering quicker acceleration, a more precise and smooth shifting and also enhancing ride quality to new levels. A further contributor to the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s improved fuel economy is the Eco Mode, which optimises gear shifting and, in V-8 models, Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation. If sportier performance is desired, a button on the center stack allows driver to disengage. In addition, Eco Mode activates Quadra-Lift air suspension system, if fitted, lowering it to ‘Aero Ride Height’: this further enhances the vehicle’s aerodynamics, for optimum efficiency.

New exterior

Faithful to the compact and exclusive design that has made it world-famous, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has an updated style, with some changes that give the front-end a more premium and sporty appearance, while preserving the vehicle’s ground clearance. On all models, the upper grille is shorter in height, the headlights are slimmer and the lower front fascia has been slightly elevated while the fog lights have been raised and are more pronounced.

The rear has also received changes and boasts new, larger tail lamps with LED lighting, a larger and more aerodynamic rear spoiler, a re-sculpted tailgate that offers greater visibility and model-specific lower rear fascias.

The following features complete the design of the new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee: new high-intensity discharge bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights (as standard on all trim levels), new design of the rims and new interior/exterior colour combinations which further enhance the premium look of the Jeep flagship.

New interiors

The interiors are enhanced thanks to the use of high quality materials such as Natura Plus leather and wood. Immediately recognisable is the revised center stack featuring new UConnect 8.4″ touchscreen and the new leather-wrapped electronic shifter for the eight-speed automatic transmission. Each model of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has its own unique style, thanks to the adoption of specific materials and colour patterns.

Summit trim level even more exclusive

The Summit trim level represents the top of the range model and offers the highest level of quality featuring Premium Natura-Plus leather seats and the exclusive suede-like material covering the front pillars and the headliner. This state-of-the-art system features a twelve-channel amplifier, three sub-woofers and surrounds the occupants in high-definition sound

New UConnect system with 8.4″ touchscreen

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is available with the new UConnect system, featuring 8.4″ touchscreen which shows, clearly and directly, all information necessary for driving and on-board comfort. In addition, in order to grant maximum safety and ease of use, both audio and connectivity controls on the spokes of the steering wheel and an innovative voice-activated hands-free device are available. These features allow the drivers to keep their hands on the steering wheel and interact with the instruments easily.

New three-spoke steering wheel and instrument cluster with 7″ display

Another new feature of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel which, in the Overland and Summit models also features high-quality wooden inserts. Optimised in terms of driving position, it features buttons for managing radio, cruise control, telephone and voice commands in complete safety. All trim levels also include standard paddle shifters mounted on the back of the steering wheel. Finally, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has an instrument panel with a new 7″ user-configurable multiview display, with TFT liquid crystal technology.

New Selec-Speed Control

The Selec-Terrain traction management system has been enhanced through the introduction of the new Selec-Speed Control, in combination with the Off road package, which allows the driver to control the speed of the vehicle, both uphill and downhill, using the steering wheel paddle shifters instead of requiring the use of the accelerator or brake pedals.

New safety contents

The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee adds further safety systems to the already extensive equipment on the previous model, such as ‘Forward Collision Warning’ with ‘Crash Mitigation’, the device that uses radar sensors to check whether the vehicle is approaching the car in front too rapidly and, if necessary, sends a signal to the driver so that he can intervene to avoid a collision. If the driver does not react, the ‘Forward Collision Warning’ with ‘Crash Mitigation’ automatically brakes the car to avoid the collision of the cars in front.
